WATERFORD TOWNSHIP - Marian varsity swim & dive hosted a pair of Catholic League foes for a triple-dual at Kettering High School Thursday.
The Mustangs continued their improvement, coming off strong swims and a runner-up finish at the Oakland County Championships to defeat both Bishop Foley, 129-53, and Divine Child, 141-28. Marian won eleven of the twelve events contested.
With a small roster, many Marian athletes had an opportunity to swim secondary events to prepare for the post season.
Grace Morgan started the meet out with a victory and season best in diving (202.35).
The 200 yard medley relay team of Lilly Masters, Viviana Kindseth, Julia Waechter and Lena McKenny started off the swimming portion of meet with a victory (1:57.38). Axelle Ballarin continued the fun, winning the 200 yard freestyle (2:09.36) and Masters captured first place in the 200 yard individual medley (2:19.95).
McKenney won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.75 and Waechter touched out Ilye Wallace of Bishop Foley to win the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.14). Rachel Bello continued with a time of 56.37 in the 100 yard freestyle and a first-place finish.
Marian went 1-2-3 in the 500 yard freestyle. Kindseth took first (5:40.22), while Mairin Mott was second (5:55.74) and Marianna Becharas was third (5:57.46).
Marian also took first and second in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Alyssa Kaitner, Bello, Ballarin and Bechras claimed the top time (1:47.98).
Kidseth continued to rack up the team points with a win in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:15.19) and the team of Piper Whitty, Bello, Waechter and Kidseth closed out the meet with a time of 3:50.14, good enough for first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
The team will go back on the road for a triple-dual at Royal Oak High School with the Ravens and Notre Dame Prep, Tuesday, October 12. Meet time is 6 p.m.
