CLARKSTON - The Marian varsity ski team, fresh off a disappointing second place finish at the Alpine Valley Divisional, finished second (91.5 points) at the MHSAA Regional hosted by Notre Dame Prep at Pine Knob.
The top-three finish qualifies the Mustangs for the MHSAA Division 2 State Championship meet at Schuss Mountain on February 28.
The host Irish of Notre Dame Prep stole the show with a combined slalom and giant slalom score of 30 to outpace Marian by 61.5 points. Also qualifying for Finals was Cranbrook, who finished third with a combined 108 point total.
Emma Borgula led Marian in icy slalom conditions, finishing 7th overall (51.58). Teammate Agatha Valka was close behind in 8th place (52.11).
Borgula gave the Mustangs a boost in the giant slalom portion of the meet, finishing 4th overall (38.53). Agatha Valka was Marian's next highest finisher in 13th place (41.51).
